Illegal Immigrants
There was an interesting interview on Anderson 360 (news show on CNN) on the subject of Illegal immigrants. The host of the show Anderson was summarizing the current popular position of the American People on how America needs to build more defenses along the Mexican border to prevent illegal immigrants from entering America and taking our jobs, blah, blah, blah and to stop the terrorists from Mexico. The interviewee had a interesting rebuttal in saying that 2 terrorists have entered from the Canadian border while none have entered from the Mexico side. Given those facts, how come America is not building a wall at the Canadian border if that's where all the terrorists are coming from? If you want to talk safety and protect America from the terrorists, how come Canada is completely left out of the picture. Anderson, knowing he wasn't going to win that argument, quickly changed the subject which was extremely entertaining since it was so obvious.
SNL had a funnier view on the subject of illegal immigrants. A character playing the Mexican President said that Mexicans don't go to America to take jobs away from American; Mexicans go to America to follow the "boobs" after they see American Girls flashing them on Spring Break.

Canada cooperates with the United States in border security, whereas Mexico actually encourages its citizens to break the southern border. Frankly, Canada is much closer to the US in terms of economic success and immense trade (more than $1 billion of trade EACH DAY), standards of living, and policing, than Mexico.
Creating a wall between Canada & the US will screw up the northern states economy.
Being Canadian, I certainly do not want to see any physical barriers between our two great countries. The reason I wrote this post is because I found it very interesting a CNN reporter was trying to use fear (stop the terrorists!) to support his argument and when challenged he could not defend himself. It's very sad the media is more focused on sensationalism these days instead of reporting the 'news'.
News agencies use fear all the time. It sells.
If it's not terror, it's bird flu, or hurricanes, or "superbugs", or what have you.
Ironically, the reason it has such a great effect is because we've been safe for so long.
